You don’t appreciate what you have until you don’t have it anymore
I originally purchased the Starter Bundle because of the ad and the great reviews on facebook. Once I got it, I had one almost every day for lunch and enjoyed how easy the process was, how good they tasted, and how many resources were available (through the website & reddit). However, I wasn’t convinced that it was worth the price. That is, until I ran out. I went back to my old ways of scrambling to pull something together in a hangry state of mind, and I missed KC, like an old friend who moved away. I loitered on the website for a couple of weeks, until Chocolate was on sale – I knew that that was my moment. And if I was already buying one, why not more? (Can’t turn down free shipping! :D) So I bought 3 bulk bags (Chocolate, Chocolate PB, & Salted Caramel), and some more samples (so that I could try every flavor, of course). I refreshed my tracking info every single day, every few hours. When it arrived, I was so ecstatic, but I was also so annoyed because I had some avocados and leftover meat that I had to eat, so I couldn’t even have my KC right away. However, now my fridge is free of leftovers, and my daily lunch is easy, delicious, filling, and designed perfectly for my macros. Suffice it to say, I am happily addicted to KC now!

Here’s another review, it should be noted that I publish all of the reviews that come in – bad or good – as they are, typos intact. The only ones I remove are spam posts from people wanting you to buy pills to “enhance performance” and such. I just finished publishing 375 reviews that came in last week while I was distracted with other things, I published the 68 1-4 star reviews first. Then I had a blast looking at the rest, all 5 star reviews, like this:

Hooks up the Fat
Ok, when days are hectic its not always possible to eat a warm, satisfying meal…. Sometimes I find myself lacking protein and fat and its the end of the day and I dont have energy to cook. Keto Chow comes in to save the day! Add cream, shake, done! This stuff tastes delicious and it fills your belly in about 30 seconds time. Give it a try and I promise you wont regret it!

Finished the 2 Krazy Ketos 7 day Keto Chow Challenge

Joe and Rachel of 2KrazyKetos recently finished up their 7 day Keto Chow challenge, it was really cool to watch their progress and experience. Every day they did a video showing the challenges they ran into, their epiphanies and more. I really recommend checking out their videos – if you want a good primer on how to do 3 meals of Keto Chow a day, this is one of the best places to start. Joe and Rachel do an amazing job explaining everything from an outsider’s perspective. Here’s the full “playlist” with their Keto Chow challenge videos so you can watch them all:

Helps Keep Me On Track
The commercial for this really drew me in. One of the biggest obstacles I have with Keto is finding time to meal prep. I’ve been doing Keto for about three and a half weeks now and having these shakes have kept me right on track. The best part about it is, these are delicious and keep me full for a long time. I’ve tried four flavors so far and can’t wait to try more. I can say from personal experience that the Cookies and Cream, Chocolate Toffee, Salted Caramel and Rootbeer Float are delicious!

Here’s another review, it should be noted that I publish all of the reviews that come in – bad or good – as they are, typos intact. The only ones I remove are spam posts from people wanting you to buy pills to “enhance performance” and such.

Better than expected
I’m not gonna lie. Shakes usually make me gag because they are too sweet or they just taste chalky. The only reason I even gave this brand a try is because of the variety of flavors. I was not disappointed. So far, I have only tried 5 flavors but I have loved them all – even the ones that I thought I would not. Will definitely order more after I try all the flavors!

Flavor of the week: Get 10% off the Chocolate Mint Keto Chow 21 meal packs between July 8 – 14

Until July 14 you can get 10% off the 21 meal “week” size of the Chocolate Mint Keto Chow.  Although it’s not one of our most popular flavors (it’s hard to compete with Chocolate) it’s one of my favorites and if there’s one mixed up at our house, our kids tend to prefer it over all other flavors, we especially like to warm it up and have chocolate mint hot chocolate. I love ketochow !
I love your product , it tastes wonderful and it’s so versatile ! I can choose my own fat thereby customizing the caloric intake. Your customer service has been spot on , from ordering to tracking the packages. You can tell a great company when you don’t have to contact customer service department and I did not have to contact , everything went smoothly ! I did purchase one large bag which I don’t particularly care for the taste of that flavor but since it’s so versatile I was able to add a little extract and make it perfect for me . Thank you so much ! Definitely will be purchasing more .

Love keto chow!
I ordered the sample packs of every flavor. My boyfriend and I are both super pleased with how delicious they are and that they left us feeling satiated for about 4 hours after. We also love that a serving has 25 grams of protein, so I’ve used it to replace my protein shake. I have since ordered our favorite flavors in the full size bag which are… chocolate, natural strawberry, snickerdoodle and mint chip. I definitely recommend this product! If you’re looking for a non-dairy option, I’ve had good luck mixing canned coconut milk with avocado oil. That way I’m getting enough calories, but it’s not too oily.

Happy US Independence Day

For any that forgot: we are closed on July 4th. So is the US Post Office, and UPS. We will not be shipping anything out tomorrow and it also doesn’t count as a transit day for delivery times.

If you have the opportunity, enjoy some time with your family. Around here we will be spending time with our family by all working together to get ready for our move to the new warehouse this weekend.

Flavor of the week: Get 10% off the Chocolate Peanut Butter Keto Chow 21 meal packs between July 1 – July 7

Hey there, welcome to July! Until July you can get 10% off the 21 meal “week” size of the Chocolate Peanut Butter Keto Chow. It’s been some time since we had the Chocolate Peanut Butter on sale, a little over a year to be exact. It should be noted that Chocolate Peanut Butter is our second most popular flavor – despite the fact that we are still unable to get the machine that makes samples to work for the Chocolate Peanut Butter which is why there are no samples. Check out the flavor reviews of Chocolate Peanut Butter. We sometimes get asked: “what can I do with Keto Chow besides make shakes?” The best place to start is our Keto Chow Recipes page, here are some of the recipes that use Chocolate Keto Chow:

I’m hooked!
These shakes truly are the best keto shakes I’ve tried so far. I got to try a bunch of flavors before ordering a large bag, and by my second shake I couldn’t wait to order more. I love the variety of flavors and I actually feel full after having them. PLEASE listen to the instructions and have your shakes chill overnight! It makes a world of difference in texture and flavor!

Here’s another review, it should be noted that I publish all of the reviews that come in – bad or good – as they are, typos intact. The only ones I remove are spam posts from people wanting you to buy pills to “enhance performance” and such.

Simplicity!
I am in maintenance mode now, having reached my weight loss goal, but I don’t want to ever return to my old way of eating. Now that I have loads of new-found energy, I need a meal on the go that won’t compromise all the work I’ve done to lose weight (91lbs). I tried Keto Chow. My first shake, Snickerdoodle, was less than I had hoped for. I suspect the flavor is excellent but I didn’t know what to do with it and I sort of tanked it. For me, texture is king and that was not pleasant. I’ve since learned, starting with my second shake, that I need to use the blender. Once I did that, Keto Chow was marvelous! I use half avocado oil and half heavy cream plus 15 oz water to make a slightly thinner shake. Once I did that, and let it refrigerate overnight, I was IN LOVE. I used one packet per day, for my lunch (so I’d still have time to take a walk in the park — literally — on my lunch hour) until my sample pack was gone. I’m just waiting for payday to order a big bag of whatever the flavor of the week happens to be when I’m ready. I’m sold on the flavor, nutrition, and convenience! Great stuff!

Holy Chow this is tasty!
I have finally become consistent with my keto WOE and tracking and after reading the feedback on Keto Chow decided to order a sample bundle. Which turned into another sample bundle (because my spouse wants to try all the flavors and needed his own blender bottle.) Then 3 big bags and the gourmet sample bundle. I’m a PB Choc fan but what surprised me the most is how much I love the vanilla flavor! I also like knowing it’s a complete meal which helps for my keto woe.

Here’s another review, it should be noted that I publish all of the reviews that come in – bad or good – as they are, typos intact. The only ones I remove are spam posts from people wanting you to buy pills to “enhance performance” and such.

Love Keto Chow!
I first tried Keto Chow by buying the sampler package that came with a blender bottle and was hooked! I own my own business and work some pretty crazy hours so being able to quickly put together a day’s worth of meals is invaluable to me. They’re so filling and tasty! Hands down the best meal replacement shake I’ve ever tried. Then I saw they have a base powder that lets me use up some protein powder I got on sale I thought I’d use more of on keto. Brilliant! I’ll probably start buying the full mixes when I’ve used up my protein powder but for now I’m happy to finally have a use for this protein powder and I’ve had no trouble staying in ketosis while using this base powder.

One other thing I want to mention is how well Chris and this company handle problems. There was an issue with the mix I was sent but I got an email letting me know what was happening and how it was going to be fixed before I even received the first package. My replacement was sent out ASAP and they didn’t make me go through the hassle of returning the bad product. I really appreciate how the situation was handled on their end.

Keto Chow and Heavy Metal Exposure (Proposition 65 warning)

For any unaware, California has a fun citizen’s initiative commonly referred to as “Proposition 65” or “Prop 65” – it’s the reason many consumer products have a warning that “this product contains chemical known to cause cancer in California” (or similar) which is generally followed by everyone thinking “good thing I’m not in California!” I’ll not get into the validity of the “No Significant Risk Levels” and “Maximum Allowable Dose Levels” established as part of Prop 65, they are what they are, and if a company sells something to a resident of California, a California resident (usually a lawyer) has the ability to sue if there is not a warning and the product contains levels of heavy metals or other contaminants higher than the levels established. I can say that the heavy metal levels in Proposition 65 are low enough that coffee shops have had to post warnings and Disneyland has warnings in their picnic area.

Keto Chow was served a notice that “Safe Products for Californians” intends to sue Keto Chow for not having warnings that Keto Chow contains heavy metals, specifically lead. The tactic being that many of the levels defined by Proposition 65 are so absurdly low that quite literally EVERYTHING has enough lead to qualify for needing a warning. Also, since Keto Chow contains protein, and the ‘cool’ thing to do these days is use plant protein which tends to be from China and contains a lot of heavy metals, logically Keto Chow will contain heavy metals (like Soylent™ does). The thing is: we don’t use plant protein, instead we only use protein created by sustainable mobile bioreactors (ruminants); in fact, very few of the ingredients come from plants and the animals don’t absorb heavy metals.

Due to the lawsuit, we paid for an independent lab to test for heavy metals in Keto Chow, the complaint was only for “Lead and Lead Compounds” but we went ahead and had Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, and Mercury tested. The test has a minimum measurable level of 0.01 mg/kg of material, and each meal of Keto Chow is around 44-50g of powder. Here are the measured levels of heavy metals in Keto Chow, the serving size, and what your exposure is compared to the allowed levels with one caveat: the cadmium level is only established for inhalation, if you ingest it orally there is not established level.

Lead is interesting, Proposition 65 establishes a “No Significant Risk Levels” for causing cancer set at 0.015 mg or 15 micrograms per day. Lead also has a “Maximum Allowable Dose Levels” (MADL) for causing reproductive harm of 0.0005 mg or 0.5 micrograms per day. The MADL is set by looking at the level that no observable effect occurs and dividing that by 1000. In other words, if a toxin causes an effect at 10 units, the MADL would be defined at 0.01 units; meaning that the dose where lead will cause reproductive harm is 0.5 mg or 500 micrograms per day. I guess it’s surprising that many of the flavors of Keto Chow do NOT contain enough lead to require a warning label. Notably, the ones with the highest levels are those that contain spices or other plant-derived flavorings.

Chocolate and Mocha both contain cocoa powder, a plant product, and both have the highest levels of heavy metals on the list; though the levels are still far below the very low bar set by Proposition 65 to necessitate a warning for cancer. The threshold for needing a “reproductive harm” warning is 0.00050 mg – as a precaution against future litigation we just went ahead and put the warning up for everything.

Moving Warehouses!

In September 2016, we moved Keto Chow out of the front 3 rooms of our house and into a 4000 square foot warehouse. At the time we thought “no way will we fill this space!” – here we are, 2.5 years later and getting ready to move to a 17090.92 square foot warehouse (that’s according to the measurements I took and using the definition of rentable space in the lease agreement, the actual lease agreement defines the space as 17535 square feet – after a lot of back and forth I think they don’t care about the square footage, they care about the lease rate per month, I let it go… mostly). There’s about 3x more space for storage at the new location on the floor without any pallet racking than there is at our current spot WITH racking. Once we have the racks installed at the new location we’ll be able to seriously amp up the number of orders we can process.

It’s also going to be nice to have a larger office. Right now Miriam’s “office” is a desk in the corner of the retail storefront, my “office” is a 6×7 storage room with artificial grass as carpet (the previous tenant was a batting company), Holly and Steve share a desk by the front door, it’s kinda nuts. We’ll actually have more finished office space with air conditioning than the entire current warehouse. That air conditioning will be nice when we do our Utah Keto Meat-Ups during the summer – the only problem will be that the meetup space is on the second floor and the landlord isn’t required to install an elevator because “Elevators are not required in facilities under three stories or with fewer than 3000 square feet per floor” so we have a contingency plan in place for helping people get up the stairs.

Anyhow, we’re targeting starting the move around July 1, 2019. The new location will have cool signs and stuff to make it easy to find but we won’t be on Redwood Road anymore so we’ll miss out on the incidental traffic that we get from “I was driving past and saw your sign that says ‘keto’ – what do you do here?” The new address is:

12577 South 265 West, Unit 4A (map)
Draper, UT 84020
