Natural Strawberry: Additional Details

What happened with the April 2024 batch of Natural Strawberry?

In April 2024, a batch of our Natural Strawberry flavor was mistakenly sweetened with both monk fruit and sucralose instead of just monk fruit by our manufacturing partner. The person on their team that manages the list of ingredients in our formulations mistakenly copied the typical ingredients (including sucralose) into Natural Strawberry and then that incorrect formulation was used to make the batch. All changes to the formulation are required to be approved by Keto Chow before production, but that policy was not followed in this case. The team mixing the batch followed the batch instructions they had, resulting in a batch with both sweeteners.

Is the product safe to consume?

Yes. The only issue is that it does not meet the expectation of being sweetened solely with monk fruit.

Why didn’t you catch this issue earlier?

We rely on our manufacturing partner to adhere to the formulations (recipes) we give them. This error occurred during production when a recipe was changed and the normal process of getting written approval by Keto Chow for all changes was not followed. We are implementing enhanced quality control measures to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

Exactly how much sucralose was added?

Each serving of Natural Strawberry had 0.08g of pure sucralose added, in addition to the 0.30g of pure monk fruit extract that is supposed to be in Natural Strawberry.

Was any maltodextrin added in this batch?

No maltodextrin was added in the affected batch. The 0.08g of pure sucralose that was added contains no maltodextrin.

How do I know if I purchased the affected batch?

Please contact our customer service team.

What steps are you taking to prevent this in the future?

We’ve already started working with our manufacturing partner to strengthen quality assurance processes, especially verification of any changes in product formulations and proactive verification of all other formulations.

Can I still use the affected product?

Yes, the only issue with this batch is the additional sweetener. If you’re satisfied with the taste and experience, you may continue using it. If not, we’re happy to assist with a resolution.
